Ductless Ac Unit Mounted On Indoor Wall

What is Ductless AC?

Ductless air conditioning, also called ductless mini-splits, is a form of heating and cooling that doesn’t rely on air ducts to push air through a home. With an air duct system, cool air travels to different rooms through vents. The HVAC system is integral to the structure of the house. However, with a ductless option, the air conditioning unit is attached to the wall and is meant to cool the immediate space.

Ductless mini-splits use both an indoor and outdoor unit, like traditional systems, but they are easier to install and may take up less space.

Which Homes Can Use Ductless AC?

Ductless air conditioning is often used in homes that already have an existing HVAC system but need to cool a new room or area. A few examples of spaces that can use this cooling option include:

  • Additions to the home to make it larger
  • Rooms above the garage that get hot during the summer
  • Garages, basements and attics that have been furnished and need climate control

Ductless AC could also be a viable option for small sheds or guesthouses that only need a small amount of air conditioning. From a commercial standpoint, some small offices use ductless air conditioning, especially if the business is part of a collection of stores or companies. This allows each business owner to set a temperature that they find comfortable.

We Provide Ductless Repair and Maintenance

At Mr. Cool, we offer more than ductless installation. Once we set up your mini-split system, you can work with us for years to maintain and repair your unit.

Ductless AC systems require similar amounts of maintenance as traditional units. Your coils can still get covered in dust and the outdoor unit could get damaged. This is why our technicians are trained to handle both duct-based HVAC systems and their ductless alternatives.
